What Does It Mean to Be a Patron-Owned Co-op?
You've probably seen the word "cooperative" or "co-op" used to describe Bagley Co-op Association, but what does that actually mean, and why does it matter to you?
At its core, a cooperative is a business owned and governed by the people who use it. At Bagley Co-op, that means our patrons, the folks who buy fuel, stop at the C-Store, and use our services, are also the owners. There are no outside investors calling the shots. The decisions we make are guided by what's best for the people we serve.
That structure changes the entire way we do business. We're not chasing profit for shareholders in some faraway city. We're focused on providing real value to the Bagley community and the surrounding area. When the co-op does well, that success comes back to our patrons in the form of patronage dividends, a share of the earnings based on how much you've done business with us throughout the year.
It's a model built on trust, mutual benefit, and community. And honestly, it's one we're really proud of. When you do business with Bagley Co-op, you're not just a customer, you're part of something bigger.
